There has been a bob house on the channel of Highland Lake in Andover for over a week now and the boys in town have been ice fishing since X-mas.

Different ponds and lakes freeze at different rates. Otter Pond in Georges Mills has been iced over for 2 weeks, but Pleasant Lake has just started in the last 3 days. Same size body of water within 5 miles of each other, both with flow channels running through the middle of them. PL is deeper and that seems to be the main factor when it comes to the speed of ice in.

Those backwash marshes off the Merrimack in Concord are less than 10 feet deep.

You still would not catch me being the pathfinder when it comes to ice fishing. I can wait a little while longer.
