We were promised 35 MPH winds, and it's all of that and more.
I was jarred to this realization when I heard a loud noise at the dock. It was too loud to have been a deck chair or falling ladder, so I investigated. It turned out that my boat had become dismasted! (That's the bad news). The good news is that the broken shroud part will cost less than $15 to replace, and was the only damage -- except I have decided to call off my sailboating season, and store the mast on the dock. It needed some minor maintenance anyway. Looking around, I see one blue/white I/O at a distant mooring with a partially-unsnapped cover snapping in the breeze. (Cover color: appliance white). Better have a neighbor check on your boat if it's still in the water. It's fierce out there. |
