Telephone service

I'm not sure I'm in the right forum, but here goes. My wife and I have a condo as a second home in Laconia. We've been operating with cell phones only, but service is spotty at best. Can anyone tell me who the local phone company is that provides land based line service in Laconia? My wife said Verizon told her they didn't provide service in the Laconia area. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Fair Point have recently replaced Verizon in the area.

If you have Internet service at your Condo, Vonage is a good alternative to Fairpoint. I've been using it for about 9 months now and find it reliable.

You can get a line with 400 minutes of long-distance per month, voice mail and a bunch of other options. You can even have calls forwarded to your weekday number or "simul-ring". All for $$14.99/month. Send me a PM and I'll "recommend" you. We both get 2 free months that way.
