Has anyone ever used one of those dog poop septic tanks? It seems that you can either buy one on-line, or go the DIY route, using an old trash can or 5 gal bucket. We have a fairly small yard at the lake and with 3 large goldens....well, you get the picture....
In trying to find a better solution, I recently learned of these dog poop septic systems, and was wondering if they really work. Thanks! |

With 4 large dogs we can fill a 5 gallon bucket easily in a week. It would need to be a big one for my crew. We used to use a 5 gallon bucket with trash bags, when full I tie them up and toss in my dumpster at work. Now we use a scooper service once a week. Once we move up here permanently in September we will need a new plan.

How do kennels, shelters, etc deal with this? Dumpster and landfill?

This just doesn't seem like a good idea to me. Probably regulated, you don't say if you have a well either .

I just looked quickly at these Dog poop Septic Tanks, I think that installation is key to get it to work correctly... How well they work who knows.... Personally I walk the dogs three times a day into the woods, while at the lake....
Personally, if I where going to try this, I would go the root of the 5 gallon buck DYI.... and see how it works.... if it works well, then maybe spend the bucks on the real deal.... I did see another device on Chewy.com, that will allow you to put the poop into your septic tank, and then flush with a little water... that may also work .... https://www.chewy.com/doggie-doo-dra...oval/dp/191459 Overall Dog Poop is a stinky subject, but you have to deal with it...

For the last 30 years I just bury it. Why would some put poop in a plastic bag then a second plastic bag. Hangs around for 600 years! Dig a small hole and roll it in. Gone in a week
