About 2 years ago +/- I was told that an internal disagreement had led to a closing of the business. However I have no direct knowledge.

I called last year and was told they couldn't help us out on Rattlesnake, and their barges were idle (or appeared to be) for most of the summer. At the end of last summer, Winnipesaukee Island Services got a brand new large barge and seemed to take over the commercial barge dock space at West Alton Marina. Yesterday, as I was coming into WAM, I saw a pickup truck at the commercial dock there from Winni Marine Construction and two guys working on on of their smaller barges, looking like painting and repairing the decking, docked next to the big WIS barge. I hope they make it, it is important to have a healthy group of businesses that can work out on the island.

Healthy industry
There are several other dock and marine constructioin businersses thriving on the lake. We were scheduled for work by Winni Marine a few years ago. Thye started with dredging and were to come back in the spring. Thye had some sudden personnel turnover, two cranes broke down and that was pretty much the end. Watermark is doing a lot of work as is Diversified Marine Construction. Our work, replacing permanent 60 year old concrete docks, was done by Island Construction. They've done other work for us as well and we are very pleased. I think most of these companies have a backlog.
