Wolfe's Tavern / Wolfeboro Inn
We went to the inn/ tavern and much to my surprise... it seems to be the place for the 21 crowd... ( not all that old,y'know 40's & 50ish ourselves )
We didn't eat as it was getting late in the nite... but I guess as of late the young crowd hangs out there ( ID's needed )... had an ok time.. couple of drinks. Still miss the old Tavern... I wish they could have restored it to keep the old tavern ambiance... oh well.. |

It's Christmas break; lots of young folk home for the holidays.
Go back again after NY Day and check it out to see if it's still filled with young 'uns. |

bummer
That's a shame, you sounded so eager to have a good time and your second post sounds disappointed.
Why do you suppose it drew the younger crowd? Was it music or games (some do trivia and such)? Or was it just too cold out, and the kids were bored? |

no, no music as I recall... I think it was just the Holidays as mentioned... yup because I've never seen all these kids before anywhere here actually...
oh, We'll go back and probably before long.... still can't stay away... go figure... I still enjoyed our company that night ... just couldn't relate to alot of the patrons as we usually like to mingle among them.. |

I suspect that the Tavern has picked up a lot of the 51 mill st. (young) crowd.

The tavern has been heavily advertising the pub specials such as after work menu deals, and also activities aimed at the younger local crowd.

Wolf's Tavern
The younger, after work, bar and munchies crowd, is not the audience the Inn should be targeting if they want to stay in business as a fine dining room. Oh sure, the lure of quick money at the bar has a tendancy to obscure the larger view of the establishment as a whole. If the Inn cultivates the Tavern crowd they will effectively make themselves not attractive to families and mature diners. There are lots of examples of this right here in Wolfeboro - most notably the recent auction sale of 51 Mill Street; and, as an example of how a restaurant CAN be successful WITHOUT featuring the bar I point to Garwoods.
I'm sure this post will bother some people, but, time will tell. Have a Happy New Year !! |

I think with them its a matter of survival. They can't successfully run a restaurant (tavern) so maybe their only option is a bar for the younger set. |

Pub past 20 Mile Bay
I think the older crowd goes to a Pub on your left on Rte 109 past 20 Mile Bay. I can't recall the name. Good food and reasonable prices. I hear it's a great gathering place for the local snowmobilers. Maybe that is where the older (more mature) crowd went.

The Tavern has always been a draw for the local bar crowd. The places seem to take turns, it's Jo Green's for a while, then the Tavern, then 51 Mill St., Rumors (when it existed), etc. They seem to last a couple of years and then there is a new poplular place where everyone goes. So they must just be going back to the Tavern again now.

No in Tuftonboro
Going to Moultonboro, it would be on the right, up a hill. I believe there is a motel next to it.

The auction of the 51 Mill St was on Dec 2nd. If the Pine Cone is planning on opening on Jan 4th or 5th. They must of had the bank all set prior to the auction. That is a very fast turn around for a loan.
I just hope it is true. |

For you and me maybe
I have a friend who owns a professional cleaning company, and among the things they do, they clean restaurants and their kitchens. They have power equipment that will clean surfaces, fans, etc.. it is amazing to talk to him about how fast and how well they can clean.
