I was just checking out the newest photos in photopost, and Firewoodguy has posted two photos of a white moose. They're spectacular, and if I could remember how to do it I would attach one of them here in the thread.
I'd love to know what the frequency of white moose is - I imagine the percentages are extremely small. It's awesome that one of our members has actually seen one, and even better that they've shared it here for all of us to see. Does anyone have any statistics on white moose?

A-way up a-north in a-beatifull Erroll, NH, at the a-huge www.llcote.com store, between all the snowmobiles, motorcycles, boats, hunting equipment and hardware, they have a big white moose on display. It's easy to find, in downtown Errol, at the busy intersection of routes 16 & 26.

They actually used to be quite abundant in the area and then for reasons largely unknown, their sightings became as rare as auburn headed restaurant owners on the Winnipesaukee web site.

Does anyone know the story behind this ( white ) guy? Was it actually taken from a forum member ( in N.H. ) or did someone see the pic and decide to simply post it?

Ditto.
-------- I did not realize that white moose were anything special. Wish more of them were white. It would be easier to see them when they swim at night.

I got an email a week or so back with several pictures of this moose and a couple of it's friends, but one picture showed a magpie (bird) in the foreground, so I knew it (they) were from out West somewhere. Sure enough, the Concord Monitor had an article on it saying that it was indeed from Montana.
Here's the link, I've no idea if it'll work or not but: http://www.concordmonitor.com/apps/p...WS01/803200393 It must be an albino. I hope for it's sake there's snow on the ground during moose hunting season in MT. |

The following is part of an email that was sent to me from family in NJ. This is floating aroung the web.
The odds of seeing an albino moose are astronomical and to see this in the upper peninsula of Michigan, near Wisconsin, is even greater than astronomical. To see two of them together is nearly impossible. We wanted to share these photos with as many people as possible because you will probably will never have a chance to see this rare sight again. This is a really special treat, so enjoy the shot of a life time. |

Well according to the story at Snopes, I'd guess our white moose was the one spotted on private land in Idaho, with her dark colored calf.
![]() And here I was, all ready to unwrap myself from the quilt and head north to get a look at her myself! I guess they really are as rare as auburn-headed restaurant owners! ![]()
