Tonight on WMUR Chronicle, they will be doing a segment on the Lake Estate On Winnisquam.
We have been three times thus far since they opened and have enjoyed it immensely each time. The place is stunningly beautiful inside and out and the food is magnificent and individually chef prepared and priced accordingly. The valet parking adds a nice touch of luxury and the attendants are very much on top of it. Each time we have finished eating our vehicle was warmed up and ready to go waiting for us at the entrance without saying a word. We did notice that a lot of the waitstaff from O's are now working there and they all said they enjoyed it very much! This is not a place you will put on your rotation schedule each week but I highly recommend it for special occasion dinners!! Definitely a step or two above anything else in NH!! We have early dinner rezzys again for New Years Eve and are really looking forward to it. Agree. Visited the bar area just last weekend. Very good experience. Drinks and food were excellent. Staff is exceptional. Building is beautiful. Price is what one would expect. If you haven’t gone, go before the spring crowds show up.

We have been once so far and had a great time. Beautiful place, great food, and great company! (we went with ishoot308 and his lovely wife)

Their website says their dress code is "Resort Chic" so that means very expensive, stylish, clean and neat clothing ...... no everyday, wrinkled, casual work clothes.
If your sneakers cost less than $94.99 then you need to upgrade your sneakers! .......

WOW!!! That is all just gorgeous.
I do NOT mean this as a criticism, I admire what they are trying to do, and it all looks very tasteful as well as luxe, but please advise on how the outside fits with the environs. When I am on or around Winnisquam, this is definitely not the first set of images that would come to mind. I might expect to see these for a super high end place in Lenox, MA with New Yorkers on their way to Tanglewood, for example. But here...? Can they draw enough people willing to pay $1,000 to $2,000/night in the Summer? |

They have done a beautiful job fitting in with the residing landscape. Everything is done in good taste and not gaudy in the least.
So far from what I have been told things are going extremely well! Pretty much since they have opened, every weekend has been booked by wedding venues. I am confident they are going to do well and be very successful. They have a great team and excellent financial investors / backing… Dan

Been thinking about this for a bit, the amount of money coming in the Laconia area this past year is staggering. Correct me if I am wrong, first new five star hotel completed. The two largest area marinas both sold out to larger investors. A multi million dollar club house being built at the private county club. A members only cigar lounge opened at lake port where one must be approached and approved for admission.

Not missing much. It seems the world has discovered the Lakes Region and is descending upon us. It will only get more expensive and crowded if this keeps up.

I think land values will stagnate, maybe even drop.
But a lot more projects that are designed for a revenue stream. I think the Lake Estate and the marinas fall into that category. Less about new housing and more about servicing demand in the area. |

The resort looks impressive, but being OCD'd I find the craftmanship in the details sub par. They definitely cut corners on labor and materials. Other than that it is a delightful experience walking through the building.
I ask what the Valentine's day package was. It is three times the Valentine's Day package at the Grand View resort which I have booked. Lake Estate is pricier than Mt Washington Hotel and Wentworth by the Sea. My guess is this is what the world is coming to. Soon the grand hotels that we know of will go the way of dinosaurs.

The ambiance seems to be trying to reflect "old money" but actually it's closer to "new money."
Still and all...I rather like it and wish them well: rich people prefer to hang out with other rich people in a quality environment, and this should fit the bill. Yes, the lakes region IS growing up.

Just a short drive down Rt 3 from The Lake Estate on Winnisquam in Tilton to nearby Market Basket-Tilton that will make you a $6.25 cheese steak sub or a $5.25 tuna fish sub while you watch it get assembled by a very busy M.B. sub-maker.
Yes, that's right, both mayo and mustard, thank-you! ..... ..... and a 50-cent, 20-oz bottle of cold M.B. root beer soda ...... yum and urp! .... ![]() Most likely, The Lake Estate on Winnisquam buys some or a lot of their restaurant menu ingredients from the nearby Market Basket supermarket. Someone makes a food shopping list and goes food shopping at nearby Market Basket? So, what's on the list for today? Betcha they almost never go to Walmart, and always go to Market Basket. Where does their very high quality food come from? Anyone really know for real like where the restaurant food ingredients at The Lake Estate on Winnisquam are purchased? How did this food get here?

The #1 most important item at the Lake Estate, a 114-room hotel on 35-acres on Lake Winnisquam with 130 full time employees and $26-hamburgers is their paying customer needed to pay all the employees, town property tax bill, and everything else including the state liquor store.
NHPR has a Aug 18, 2025 written article titled "One wine cellar. 25 fireplaces. 30 miles of crown molding. Is this the swankiest hotel in NH?" by Todd Bookman. ..... will post a link here that actually works! Just wondering how much property tax it pays Town of Tilton? Being on Lake Winnisquam maybe is bigger than the Home Depot-Tilton property tax? If this place ever gets bought out by Hilton Hotels for short money ....... Hilton should name it the Tilton Hilton and lower the price for a hamburger.

While the reviews aren't stellar (4.3 on Google), the negatives mostly revolve around children and cost via quality.
I will say that their dining room policy of no kids after 7 is maybe the best compromise I've seen for a high-end establishment while also trying to accommodate families. Two of the 1-star reviews are from a parent and friend of the parent who was asked to leave with their crying baby. I have no idea when that level of entitlement began, but I'm glad to see at least one restaurant willing to fight to protect an experience they're trying to create. The entitlement went nuts during covid and getting worse.
I do it sometimes now, but I try to check myself as quickly as I can. I don't want to slip into that habit. |

My wife likes those kind of places, me, not so much! But I understand that people that have an abundance of money will gravitate to a place like that.
I've talked to a few people that have been to their restaurant multiple times and been informed it's been hit or miss. |

Last fall I saw several people in formal wedding clothes at the country store deli next to Mosquito Bridge eating subs from the deli. From their conversation, they needed to get away from a wedding dinner at the Lake Estate to get some real food and were heading back afterward.

Many of today’s youngsters know little about quality dining outside of McDonalds and Taco Bell. Can’t believe what was served at a wedding reception was uneditable.

We have been to the bar a few times since they opened.
Great resort in the wrong part of the lakes region. Suspect it will struggle on Winnesquam, with their prices and limited features that lake has to offer. |

I was not suggesting that it was not edible.
More that the choices are not to everyone's liking. The limited "features" of Lake Winnisquam is exactly why the resort is there. |

Haven't been there yet, but I think they'll do just fine. Church Landing was THE PLACE for weddings at $25-$50K each and five events a weekend in the summer. They have lost their luster and The Estate is well placed to step into that business. Like Squam, Winnisquam is a different experience than Winnipesaukee. Convention planners and weddings look for something unique and I think this will fill the bill. I'd guess there was some pretty extensive market analysis before they lifted a shovel.

Looking for a car with a manual transmission? Cupples Cars in Belmont usually has a couple Volkswagen's on their used car lot. Lake Estate has one outdoor tennis court and four outdoor pickleball courts.

The ambience will end up being internal to the Estate.
Paying close attention to the target audience is what will make them either a success or failure. |

Follow the model of Kahuna Lagoona indoor water park at the Red Jacket in North Conway, and build a new Kahuna Lagoona on the forested land next to Sunrise Shore (road) at the Lake Estate.
A new year 'round indoor water park at the Lake Estate to bring in 88-degree water customers all year 'round. Is this a totally excellent suggestion or what? Tilton is a way better location for a N.H. indoor water park than Dixville Notch, don't you think! An indoor water park in Tilton could actually be a big hit, success story that draws in people from all over. Could be the 88-degree water engine that keeps Lake Estate afloat!

The Lake Estate makes Church Landing look like Motel 6. I agree with Rinkerguy. It’s trying to be one of the grand hotels without the historical allure. I predict that it will fade once the novelty phase is over. Weddings will keep it alive for a while because the guests are captive. I don’t see conventioneers returning after a first experience, because it’s Winnisquam and they really don’t have water activities except the beach. I’m guessing regular tourist bookings are rare with rooms starting around 700 a night.

The question of survivability rests on being able to maintain their current level of service while trying to attract customers, and, build a client base of repeat business. There are less and less high-end weddings in today's economy, and less and less repeat customers, so the future will be extremely tough for the on-site management and the investors. This area doesn't really qualify as a destination wedding venue, and based on the comments on the Forum, I'd say it is not for the every-day family. I wish them the best of luck, but I will not be surprised if the "bubble" bursts.

Does Lake Estate have enough forest woodland along Sunrise Shore (road) to build an indoor water park that could be separate from Lake Estate by an attractive all-wood picket 6' fence stained with G8 outdoor stain?
Access by Exit 20 to the south and Rt 3 to the north, an indoor water park could be a 365-day venue just like Walmart; open rain, sun, snow, cold, hot, or foggy! Named Kahuna Tuxedo or Kahuna Tux for short ...... to make a reference to the Lake Estate and its' gazillion dollar patrons and $26-hamburgers ...... .

I guess that depends on how much money the owner of NUCAR wants to lose.
Water parks don't seem to survive the area; and that may be due to the demographics of who is here and who is coming here. The demographics are older. |

Well, probably the defunct water parks you have in mind were all outdoors and very much weather dependent as in 85-degree plus outdoor temp needed. But this could be an indoor water park similar to the Kahuna Lagoona in North Conway.
As a business separate from Lake Estate it could be open to the public or something with some hours only open to Lake Estate guests or something. 88-degree water temp in a 72-degree room air temp water park could become a very popular central N.H. hot spot, all year 'round. With the North Conway facility about one hour north, is not too difficult to investigate the possibility for a similar operation.

We're looking forward to dinner at the Estate when we get into the Lakes Region. Reviews on TripAdvisor were all excellent, but were from hotel guests, not focused on the restaurant which still got high marks.

Yes they are. Is a beautiful venue. A asset to the area. Many jobs created. Everyone needs to visit once. Disappointed they won’t be having public docks. Did hear they maybe having a few spots for reservations, but have been unable to confirm
