This Google Maps satellite view of the lake is fun: it seems to go from early spring near 20-Mile Bay to summer in Melvin Bay -- ice on the lake, brown landscape to water and green landscape!
They obviously joined satellite photos from different times of year. The map used to be all summer, and you could see tiny boats with their long wakes. (Someone looking at this thread months from now might see a different image.) |

The whole earth is pieced together with different date photos. The more recent ones are much higher resolution. There is a time stamp on the bottom that allows you to see older photos if you like. Check out this Saddleback ski area view where a couple trails start halfway down.
