Route 25 hill in Meredith
Just a quick question...
Did the town or the state level the rt 25 hill in Meredith? I was considering getting a motorcycle when it occurred to me that it doesn't seem as steep as it once was... could just be me? But I also realized that I haven't seen as many vehicles sliding down it in winter like I used to... did something happen while I was away a few years ago? (yes, it's typical of me to be a little slow at catching on!)

The NH Legislature found an extra 6.2 billion dollars in a little used Flat-Earth Fund and used it to level out a few annoying hills. The hardest part was moving the Interlakes Regional High School out of the way and then returning it latter.
Next year they will be turning Red Hill into Red Field. |

In actuality, nothing was changed to the hills in 40 years!

Thanks everyone -- then it must be the vehicle I'm driving (that's the only thing that changed.)
With that in mind... I may have to consider more cc's.

say hey.....there's a very simple reason why most Harley riders have great big bellys that hang out over the gas tanks, and most bicycle riders are thin.....maybe you want to go pedal a bicycle up that Route 25- "High School Hill" sometime to experience how long and steep it is as pedalled on a bicycle..... with a Harley......you just turn your wrist a quarter turn and 95-hp runs you up that hill no-problem....not so on a bicycle, buddy....

I had to ask because I always seem to be getting lost in places that I knew "all my life!" Only to have someone tell me "the state came in and..." widened the road... put in a culvert... leveled the pitch... etc. And removed that tree, rock or something that I used as a bearing (I pre-date road signs in this area.)

The hill is the same.
It's sad or funny depending on your vehicle and your point of view - during the initial stages of a snow storm - before state trucks get out - viewing folks making it half way up hill - only to slide backwards or just have the tires spinning. |

Hmm..If only they could figure out a way to make the lake DOWNHILL, I could save some money on boat gas by coasting some more

ya know....hills don't seem as steep ( unless your walking ) , trees seem higher, had trouble finding the house I grew up in...it was still there, I've been gone for a few.....even Milky Ways don't taste the same..
Damn old age ! Naw, it can't be that...My mind doesn't say I'm that old...hmmmm, maybe the body does though... |
