Lights and security cameras are one attemt. You don't have to install a full security system. Fake lights with blinking light may be enough for thieves to move on. Motion sensing lights are good also. An inside light with a timer can also help.
Leave an outside light on. I have even left a radio on at times. Make sure car is locked. |

Besides a motion detector light, put a sign on the tank:

The Camp Sargent Road Co-Op has been hit a few times lately. They have these ba-dass neighborhood watch signs but the reality is they all have blinders on unless somebody forgets to mow the lawn or has too many cars over-night. lol!
The police can't patrol inside the Co-Op because the roads are private. Unfortunatly for them, this has become common knowledge. A couple of people were caught but I think it was because their car broke down and the loot was visible. They actually came from out-of-town and the news articles suggest they had reconaisance in advance. These residents need to become more pro-active because there will be a lot more stranger traffic when the new shopping center opens this summer. Since I work at home I normally confront anyone who comes on my property so, hopefully, no one will think my fuel is an easy target. My immediate neighbors and I are on good terms and let each other know if strangers are going to be around when we aren't at home. Our police is the largest department in town but they can't be everywhere all the time. You should do your best to be on good terms with your neighbors because if they get hit, your place could be next in line. |
