Gas prices up for boats what about cars?

The prices for the boats is extremely high, but so isn't the price for our fine new/old autombiles. It doesn't seem to be slowing people down as the highways no matter where you go is heavy traffic (weekends). I know MY fun weekends have taken a good hit how about yours?

My motorboat is still running on last fall's tank-full. What were the prices then? $1.49? I'm afraid to see what the marine gas prices are, so have been spending about 3:1 of my "on the water" time in the sailboat, trying to make that fall tankfull last.

On another note, what a great example of quirky New England grammer in the root post. "so isn't the price"?? Where does that quirk come from?

I actually heard on the radio, that even with these prices, there is a record demand for crude oil right now. It sure doesn't enforce the argument that higher prices will make people stay home. I know it won't keep me in, which is the obvious problem. Fuel is a necessity in today's life, and with it being managed by UAE and Opec, we're at their mercy.

Took a 75 mile round trip lunch run Thursday. Filled the boat Friday $152. Some lunch

Did anybody else here about the nation wide gas boycott Wednesday the 19th

Some lunch indeed! The same lunch last year would have cost only $111.75 -- with gas at $1.49 per gallon.

The UAE (United Arab Emirates), with Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar are, at least, not unfriendly. The real culprit is OPEC.

In today's Boston Herald, gasoline is at 9¢ a gallon in Caracas, Venezuela -- an OPEC signatory.

The boycotting gas is a good idea in theory, but you will have to fill your tank the day before or the day after. This needs to be done in a larger scale, such as car pooling, public transportation, in reality this will not happend people love their cars, and trucks.

You know, I usually check snopes before posting such things, but didn't this time. I agree with tricia, a better boycott would be to not drive for a day or two a week.

Actually , more like $66.50 since last years engines did a little better , 1.5 mph compared to 1 mpg

1) Just kidding...How can a boycott succeed when the amount of fuel consumed remains the same at the end of the week? If anything, we're showing OPEC that we can't stop! (China's demand for oil is growing, too).

Went by the Mobil station at the Gilford Shaws today. Regular was $2.059 and premium was $2.259!

Here in Arizona, Mobil regular has been at $2.20 for the past month, I didn't go out today, it's probably near $ 2.25. Next to Ca. we are about the next most expensive in the country.

Over the weekend and on Monday, the prices on the eastern side of the Lake (for cars) averaged in the 1.97 - 1.99 range. Came home (PA) to find most over 2.00. Today, I was seeing 2.07 to 2.11 -- up again. So it seems that Lakes region is not far off the norm (and, compared to PA, better). I didn't get boat gas -- just car, weedie & blower gas.

Let me get this straight: You intentionally reduced your fuel economy downward by a third, and your gasoline consumption increased.

I'm fortunate enough to be a trailer boater who can fill the boat at the same pump I fill the truck. The only problem is the truck gets 12 miles to the gallon (sans towing) and the boat has a 65 gallon tank. Since I like to boat on the Big Lake as well as at the coast, I just don't have a fortune to spend to get me to either location and then to cruise the way I like to. The gas prices have put a huge damper on my fun and so I will have less of both: less gas, less fun.
