Thumbs up These are a few of my favorite things...

This summer brought me back "home" to NH and I was surprised to see some changes. Looks like the Bad Moose is now a Subway and Gilligan's is growing weeds. I will miss the Kareoke at the Moose and the Hot wings at Gilligan's. But was still able to enjoy some of my favorites.

Favorites to the point of saying, it isn't a trip to the Lakes Region without these on the schedule. I will list my favorites, and these are in no particular order. First, there is Louis Pizza in Meredith mmmmm... Absolutely the best. Then you have drinks and appetizers at "The Docks" on the Lake. Subs at Jo Jo's makes my list of favorites as does the VK (Village Kitchen). I will wait as long as I have to in order to get my order of biscuits and gravy. I noticed for the first time this year the absolutely adorable signs Bob and Sammie have in the back of the lawn where there are two signs posted for the Dogs; City Dogs and Country Dogs - too Funny We went to the Canoe for our tradition. Started the evening with Lake Monsters (glow sticks were sold out, but that was o.k.). We enjoyed the Calamari with our Lake Monsters and then moved on to dinner. After ordering our favorite bottle of wine (Smoking Loon), we both ordered Lobster Mac and Cheese - looked forward to that since planning the trip. The evening was simply delightful. Finally, tried the North End for the first time and was NOT disappointed. I love Fra Diavlo from any italian restaurant and so I picked that from the menu. Since our special night out was at the Canoe, we didn't order any wine, but enjoyed some cocktails and apps. And since we didn't order desert at the Canoe, we did at the North End!!!! All I can say is...to die for

Kudo's to all of my favorites and I will look forward to my next trip back east when I can do it all again.

btw: can someone fill me in on the Coe House, I see it was open again. Also, if anyone knows the answer to this question, let me know. There is an Ice Cream place in Ashland - used to be called the Dipsy Doodle ages ago. Their cone portions were huge! I didn't drive there for my ice cream (this too is one of my favorites) because I was told that JB scoops bought it. Is this true?

Happy eatting to all of you, I envy you if you live there, wish I did.

Can we add to the list? One of my favorite things up here is Guiseppe's in Meredith. Always great service, delicious hot food and best of all enough to have for lunch the next day! Kudos to Guiseppe's for running such a fine establisment, we have never been disappointed.

Default I second that

Guiseppe's...great spot. Great food, and service. One of our favorites.
And a great bar to hang out at, especially during a Sox game. Good mix of locals and vacationers...more locals actually.
Hard to go there and not have a good time.

Smile Will check it out!

You know, I have four adult children, ages 22,24,26 and 28. The 26 year old lives right there in Moultonboro and the other 3 will be back to good ol NH soon enough. Anyway, they hang out a Guiseppe's when they are visiting too. So, I thought it was more of a spot for the 20 something crowd and didn't want to cramp anyone's style. Now that I know there is quite a mix, this 50 something lady will check it out next time I'm back. Thanks for all the input, keep your comments coming!
