Smile Orionid Meteors

This weekend we might be able to see the Orionid Meteor Shower. Look south to Orion in the predawn hours on 21st and 22nd (it might actually be fairly clear). The rate should be 25/hr.

Ya beat me to it ! For more info lookee here. Unforetunately (for me) these are best viewed from 1-2 AM. Even now some will be visible in the early morning sky. See this for some observing tips.

And now for a early notification, watch for the Leonids this November. Some astronomers are predicting a better than average show this year.

Default puppy

Well we have a new puppy so I KNOW I'll be out there at 3 AM.

Actually I teach Astronomy in high school so I love this stuff and teaching kids about what they can see around them if they only pay attention to something other than MTV or their iPods.
