Railroad bed from Winnisquam to Franconia Notch varied from poor to good. From Winnisquam to Meredith trail was real bad, Meredith to Ashland trail was flat and for the most part good. From Ashland to Lincoln trail was fair with a lot of mile plus bump sections. Lincoln to Franconia notch was brutal.
Rode from Belmont to Old Man via ATV's yesterday. Big ATV ride in up at Lincoln with trails to Twin Mountain open to ATV's for the day. |

Hey Belmont Res,
Is the railroad bed you mention the same one that passes through the Winnisquam Beach Resort Campground? I've spent summers at the big lake since I was very young, but just bought a place on Winnisquam and hope to be riding from that area as soon as it snows! I've seen the Belmont club map, but wasn't sure how far that rail trail goes. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks, the Trailer Guy. |

Those R.R. tracks go all the way up to Franconia Notch, with various side trails on the way around the Ashland, Plymouth, and Bridgewater area. Its a nice ride when the trails are smooth, but if they are bumby forget making the trip. We rode up to Plymouth last weekend via the R.R. tracks, 107 miles for the day.
