New England Boat show runs from 2/10 through 2/18 at the Boston Convention Center. It's always a good take and a great way to reconnect with our NH Boat Dealers. If you can go.....enjoy all that shiney new fiberglass and all that newly cured resin. ![]() The Breeze Wave ‘cuz I’ll be wavin’ back Last edited by sum-r breeze; 01-30-2018 at 08:08 PM. Planning on going this year, haven't been in a few. Any thoughts on where to get discount tickets ?
BoatUS offers a 15% discount. Thanks, Bill |

I always enjoy going. There are two sorts of discounts (if they do it again).
You can almost always find $2 off per ticket, I think the code this year is 'BOATUS18' but, sometimes another one. Just google to find it, but you usually can also get a discount by ordering the tickets online, instead of at the show. I've even done this on the bus ride from the parking to the lobby using my smart phone in the past. A lot of people don't know this, but if you don't want the 'free' magazines that the tickets include, there is a magazine available. You stop at one of the booths there in the lobby, and say you don't want the 'free' magazine. You fill out a card and they send you a rebate check for $8 per ticket. So now you know what your 'free' magazine costs you! I have done this a few years, I'm not sure if they are offering it again this year. Last year I got the magazines instead of the rebate.

Just watch out for the boat traffic in Boston though.

I remember when that happened. Beautiful boat, saw the scratches at the show myself.

We went yesterday.
To top off the day we walked over to the Tuscan Kitchen for dinner. That's where you get the sticker shock :-) Man....those Montereys. |

We spent 4 hours at the show yesterday. I was surprised/disappointed not to see Premier pontoons there, but I understand based on their recent troubles why the local dealers would hold off. My wife wanted to see the Escalante.
We really loved the Rossiter 20 coastal! |

The daughter had been handed the company and completely blew it up. The family stepped back in to straighten things out. They are moving forward, producing boats and cleaning it up. They will be fine, but it was a bit of a nightmare for the dealers last season I am told.

As the thread starter I feel like I should follow up with a review of the show. We went on Saturday 2/10 and the show was pretty busy. I think it's substatially bigger than past years and very close to the "high water mark" of 2007. It was the first day of the show and the dealers were saying the show was already generating sales. We went with another couple who might be trading out of a pontoon into a conventional bowrider. Lots of choices and options to consider. Jason Wiley and Billy Irwin from Irwin Marine, were very helpful and informative about the Sea Ray and Monterey boats they had at the show. The show is still running until the 18th and I encourage anyone who wants to kick those Winter blues to take in the show, it always makes me pumped up for the boating season!!

We went yesterday (Tuesday). Somewhat quiet. Lots of pontoons/ tritoons, and wakeboard type boats. Nice to see some of the lakes region marinas present. A lot of floor space taken up. Took the bus in from Concord to S. Station, then the T to the show. Love our annual trip to the show. Back to reality, looking at the boat all wrapped up in the front yard.

We went last night. Wow, what a difference!
If you can, and you want to enjoy the show, have time to visit any and every boat, talk to vendors and have time to complete a conversation, go on a weekday or weekday night! After going last night we kept asking each other why we hadn't thought of this before. It's a totally different experience than attending on a weekend. Of course, if you like people watching, standing in lines, crowds, and not having time to talk to vendors, go on the weekend.

We are going back down tomorrow with the kids right after school. We didn't dare take them on Sunday. It was fine for us but they would not have survived!

I've had some great buys on accessories and equipment on the last Sunday afternoon when vendors would rather sell cheap than take stuff back home.
B est people watching is in FLL or MIA where the people are "en costume", blazers and white slacks, bikinis and fur coats. Bring a buddy and refer to him as your captain. TIC. LOL. |

Wife and I had a blast. Free tix from Winnisquam
![]() Progressive sponsors it and if you have their insurance you check in with them at the entrance and get some nice swag (Beach towel, hat, and sunglasses) for the first mate and I. We spent most of the time checking out different 'toons and options as we start to plan for next boat. Nice folks all. Last edited by Patofnaud; 02-18-2018 at 06:12 PM. |

We went yesterday (Saturday) crowds and lines to see the larger boats that we were interested in got longer as the day wore on, but we saw what we needed to see. We downsized a few years ago, now thinking bigger again. I don't do an inventory, but it seemed like more big boats (30' plus) than in previous years. Some inflatables, but no dinghies, kayaks, canoes, etc. Fine by me. Now that more manufacturers are installing electronics instead of dealers, it seemed like few of these booths too. Best laugh was the guy selling auto-retract shore power reels. $650 for the reel, OK. But he almost seemed serious when he said $5-$7K for installation. And he could do it a lot quicker than my local marina.

I too was looking mostly at new toons and options. I never like the tans and dark old English style of some high end pontoons, But I loved the new Benny's with the really dark interior, I don't know how hot they'll get but they looked great. On the other hand, I always liked the South bay and Berkshire line but i couldn't get past there new very shiny woven vinyl on there higher end boats, Usually the woven vinyl is my first choice but this looked awful. I think that knocks it out of contention for me, unless there's an option.
