It's a day late but Aerial Photo NH posted this April Fools Joke yesterday. It was Ice-Out because the Mount could reach all its ports:

I expect someone will open an "Ice Out Watch" thread shortly so we can build on speculation but I suspect my Ice Out guess is in the ball park and we will see ice out in about 3 weeks.
that said, there are current positive signs such as: -The Alton cam showing significant cracks that appear to cross the entire piece of water in front of the cam. -Significant shoreline ice erosion melting on several cams. -The above makes it possible for wind and rain to get ice moving and speed the erosion of ice. Reality is though that there are probably large ice sheets of over 2 feet out there in many place. I expect that ice is rotting quickly and see vast areas of gray. I think we will see quick advancement as long as warmth, wind and rain do their April-dance on the ice. Stay patient!!! |

Wind. Warmth. Water (rain). The three primary variables that drive the ice out process.

Did you see the DOT's post about the bridge across the lake? That was a great April Fool joke.

Still had snowmobiles out on the lake this past weekend in Moultonborough. I walked a decent way out and it still had the be well over a foot thick and SOLID.
