I was looking at the condo/cabins at Piping Rock, Winter Harbor in Wolfeboro. It was a place I considered buying into about 15 years ago, but didn't. My family and I did enjoy many vacations here, though. We were recently reconsidering a purchase, but feel a little spooked by the fact that so many units (cabins and motel rooms) are for sale.
The place seems a little bleak and empty now. At one time, we had to book our reservations for the next summer on the day we checked out, then reconfirm in January, to be sure we would get a cabin. The management has been scattershot for a number of years, but does anyone know of any particular reason why owners are bailing on this property or is just a coincidence that a lot are selling at the same time? |

I haven't heard anything changed (except management). I think probably it is just coincidence that there are more for sale now. Three? Spencer Hughes just took over the management of it and I heard there have been a few bumps with that too, but that was in the spring. So hopefully it is straightened out by now.
