Baby mink (I believe - can anyone confirm?) seen last weekend. There were 4 babies in all. They were all safely escorted by their mother to better cover in heavy brush along the shore. Very cool to see.

Thanks for helping me identify these!
Yesterday, I was walking with my dog on a backwoods road near our house. Came upon one of these in the middle of the road. Thankfully I was able to get my dog to stay away and leave it alone. It scampered off to the side of the road and we walked on. I was surprised to see one so young seemingly all alone. But the rest of the family may have been nearby. |
