Our son and his fiancee' hope to married here at our Island on the Lake next summer. Do you know of a wedding planner in the area who could handle all the details with vendors? We are all from out of state so a competent planner will be important. Any suggestions of venues for rehearsal dinner and Sunday brunch in the Meredith area? Thanks for any ideas you might have.

You might start by going to Church Landing and asking them about services they might offer.

...but the cost of paying for vendors (food, DJ, Justice of the Peace, etc.) was very high.
Plus getting the guests to and from the island posed a bit of a problem (barge maybe?). We didn't have enough room land-wise either. We got married at Church Landing and although it was expensive, it was absolutely perfect in every sense of the word. Ceremony outside on the lawn overlooking the lake, followed by cocktail hour with appetizers passed, and then the dinner served buffet style by chefs in the room just outside the main function hall. It was amazing!!

As I recall Jacques or something like that did the cake, Ladd Hill did the Flowers. I was not happy with the music so do not know anyone for music. That is a start if you really decide to do it yourselves. Even if you use a wedding planner you do have to have some ideas on what you want. I don't know on caterers but Mame's did a lovely brunch the morning after a friend's daughter's wedding. HMMMM I don't have the wedding things here but will look when I go north next week.
Sending wishes for a lovely wedding and a wonderful marriage! |

Third vote for Amy Piper of Signature Events. Not only is she excellent, she has significant experience in planning island events.
