Fireworks July 3
July 3, 2016
I have never ever in my many decades of Lakes Region living witnessed so many private fireworks on the night before July 4th. Having purchased fireworks myself in decades past, I do know that the cost of fireworks can be quite high. Something good must be happening to our economy for such great amounts of disposable income. |

It was a fabulous display watching from the west side of Welch. Often 8 to 10 simultaneous displays of the 20 or so larger displays. About an hour overall, all from the end of our dock.

One of the sales people will work with us, asking us questions as we walk through and explaining what is what in the fireworks world. We find that by pooling the money together, VS each family bringing something for the show, works out so much better. Of course they always throw in the "extra's" when we check out. Edit: I am sure all the fireworks businesses in the area work the same. |

A home owner in green's basin last night had the most incredible fireworks display. It went continuous for 20 minutes and twice he had a finale that was as good as a town.

EDIT: We've been doing our own display at the house since we could start buying them in NH. No traffic, always a good seat and some of our neighbors have jumped into the tradition as well so we end up with a pretty good show in our cove. Last edited by neckdweller; 07-05-2016 at 08:31 AM. There have been private fireworks over the lakes as far back as I can remember. I recall my friend's camp back in the 60's having a pipe cemented into a portion of a dock, pointing up, angled just right, just for fireworks.

The Rocket's Red Glare
Each year, our neighbors on East Bear Island treat us with a grand display of fireworks. One even triggers them remotely from shore. 💥 🎆

I know I'll be criticized for being a downer. But as much as I enjoy a good fireworks show, the increasing number of private ones going on all summer is concerning given new items such as this one.
https://www.yahoo.com/news/fireworks...010300064.html And this, http://des.nh.gov/organization/commi...ents/bb-60.pdf And each group will say, "how can my little show make a difference?". But when 1000 homes around the lake all say the same thing... |
