I originally put this as a response to another thread, but thought it probably should have it's own.
The Feds are looking at increasing the ethanol in gasoline to 15% up from the current 10%. E-10 is already creating issues so there are a number of boating organizations trying to head that off since they claim no boat engine has been designed certified or warrantied to run on anything higher than E-10 CLICK HERE for a link to NMMA's campaign complete with sample email to send to the EPA before their public comment period closes July 20, 2009. |

Airwaves, thanks for the link to that site. It was easy (and important) to send a message to the Gov't rep. Everyone should do so or live with a continuation down the bad road to higher ethanol fuels and engine damage.

One thing to keep in mind here is this is not something that will go into effect right away... it will be phased in I am sure, just like the switch for mbte to ethanol.....

Here in Oregon, the state legislature has tossed around the idea of repealing the statewide mandate of E10. There have been so many complaints about the drop in fuel economy with E10 that some in government are thinking about undoing the recent mandate that all gas stations pump E10. Those of us with older cars (pre fuel-injected carburetors) and certainly boaters are hoping that the legislature will follow through with this repeal. Will the fed overrule the states in this? I hope not.

Call your legislators and demand the repeal of ethanol in gasoline.

This bill is backed by the ethanol producers. Of course. They want to make a fast buck more than anything.
As I mention in another thread, my 1988 Formula had to have a new gas tank, gas lines and carb rebuilt with new gaskets because the old soft materials have deteriated because of ethanol.
