Ben & Jerry's free ice cream cone day, Tuesday, April 14
Once a year on opening day, every year for maybe the last 25 years, Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream close to the Mills Falls waterfall in Meredith starts off their annual season with a free ice cream cone day.
Tuesday, April 14, noon to 8-pm is free cone day for this year, 2026 and the waterfall should be running huge with water from the Lake Waukewan canal flowing down into Lake Winnipesaukee. According to Wikipedia, from 1816-1818 a 600' long canal was dug that redirected the water outflow from Lake Waukewan which greatly improved the power of their water powered mill. Wonder what the mill made two hundred years ago? Did it make the ice cream cones for Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream with a water wheel powered ice cream cone mill?
Have a free ice cream cone to get a taste on how good is their ice cream, and be sure to return another day and actually pay for one now that you just got a freebie!
