looking for a company to rebuild the wraparound deck/porch on our very very old family cabin which is lakefront in wolfeboro. The deck posts support the roof and there is some leveling that needs to happen.. need footers as well as the ancient support rocks are sinking. Any reputable firms in the area?

Keep in mind that you may need to fill out Form # NHDES-W-06-039 which is a "Shoreland Permit by Notification (PBN) Eligibility and Checklist" if your deck is within 250' of the water. You will need to submit that with a check to the State on Hazen Drive in Concord, NH.
If you're rebuilding an existing deck the Wolfeboro Building Inspector may or may not grant a building permit until such time as they have this form that you submitted (and received back with an approval) from the State. This State form is good for 5 years after approval from the State. Once the State Form is approved then you can take it and request a Building Permit for the Wolfeboro Building Department and they should issue it should you not have any lot line set back issues that would then trigger a Board of Appeals hearing. I assume the existing deck is grandfathered. Again Note; The State Form may not need to be done "if" you are replicating everything exactly as you have now, but this is something the Wolfeboro Building Inspector has to rule on. None of the above is meant to discourage you but rather tell you it may not be an easy cut and dry process. Been there, done that! |

John, I've tried to contact Jim a few times with no call backs after you recommended him for a skylight replacement. Is he just really busy or maybe retired?

Not retired.
I will ask his inside salesperson how busy he is. I will also see if there are any more recommendations for Wolfeboro that they can give me. |

Thanks Jim. Looking at that list triggered my memory that someone else had mentioned Black Bear and they are in my neighborhood so I'll try them.
