Next month a book, which is actually the first definitive guide to Lake Winni angling history, will become available in local book stores and on the internet. The book has been reviewed by John Viar and Don Miller whose excellent biological work has helped make the Lake Winni landlocked salmon fishery the premier one it is today in the USA.
Go to: www.deepwaterspress.com to learn more about the book entitled, ANGLING IN THE SMILE OF THE GREAT SPIRIT - Six Centuries of Wisdom from the Master Anglers of Lake Winnipesaukee. The book features formerly secret tips on best lures, depths, speeds, techniques - plus tales, stories, lies ("...we fishermen were born honest, but we get over it....") and histories from 15 Master Anglers who cumulatively have over 600 years of Lake Winni angling experience. It will answer questions posted here from both novice and experienced anglers. There are over 350 photos including old ones from the 30s and 40s of Lake Winni angling. A "Chart of Secrets" shares average depths, trolling speeds, and best lures from the Master Anglers. I'm out on East Bear Island from mid may 'til October. Anyone with questions feel free to email me privately at: halclyon@yahoo.com Good angling and tight lines! Hal ![]() Last edited by halclyon; 04-13-2004 at 12:10 PM. Reason: Mistake in wording |
