Can I legally rent out my boat slips which are both in the defined lake shore residential zone?My homes are in Laconia and Alton. I am concerned about
Zoning and also my neighbors. |

Obviously, there are things that are OK at your own residence that can be overstepped and make it commercial. For example, you can rent your house on VRBO for a week, but you're supposed to collect room and meals tax. Not so for a long term lease. Each town's zoning may be a little different, so you probably should call Alton or Laconia. Are you in an HOA? They may have rules too, like number of cars parked, trailers, RV's, etc.

I can't see where this would be a zoning problem. How is renting any different than allowing a family member or friend leave their boat tied up to your dock for the season, coming and going as they please? If it were me and I was not concerned about the liability aspect I'd consider it so long as the renters are discreet and respectful of the unique situation. |
