Hmm sounds fun. Can you rip up the lake from 19 mile to greens basin or trailer to VK safer?

That's a great ride. Does anyone know if center harbor is frozen over?

Does anyone know if Kanasatka is safe? I went there by vehicle and see snowmobile tracks leading to it, and on it, but want to be sure? I don't see any ice fisherman etc.. ATV's? Also then I would like to know if Wakondah is safe? If these are, I can really utilize the power lines and all of Moultonborough Snowmobile Clubs trails, and most importantly the Red Hill portions which i absolutely love.....

Do you know what, I'm going to rephrase my question. Does anyone know if people are riding on Center Harbor and the various lake crossings on the Moultonborough trail system?
I'm not looking for an endorsement of safety for riding on ice, which can be dangerous even when there is 2 feet of ice. |

FYI--- Wolfeboro Club has posted on their trail conditions page that a part of the trail just before the Castle is closed "Per Landowner's Request" The club is working to resolve it, but I don't know if it has yet.
Power Lines Snack Shack to Castle (Corridor 26) Earlier season Closed just before Castle per land owner request, club is working to reslove. More & More Trails being closed-- Is it worth registering in this state anymore? Probably just do Maine next year, at least you can go somewhere without hitting a dead end! |

People have been riding on Kanasatka, Lees Pond and Mboro Bay. There are still no tracks on the Power Line trail coming off the crossing from Arey's Marina, but sleds have come down from the north and exited at Arey's.
Heard in Center Harbor today that Fish & Game drilled test holes on Wednesday and reported 7" of ice out to about 200 feet from shore. Past One Mile Island, there was open water not too long ago. If you subscribe to the guideline of "don't be first on the ice", you won't be riding up from 19 mile bay to Corridor 15, yet. No tracks yet this year. By Saturday morning, who knows. With all the new snow, I think riders will be making tracks on the lakes by Friday afternoon. The club ride ends around 3PM, according to the event posted on the MSC web site.

Not sure this answered your question, but I am at leavitt park / patrician shores right outside of center harbor and need that to be safe to get across center harbor and hit the power lines behind the irving / red hill dairy. |

I trailered over to red hill dairy today and rode the trails into Meredith. A few mud spots but overall, not a bad ride. Just good to get out there again after last years lack of snow.

Can you tell me if you still plan on crossing the Lake over to Ambrose Marina?
I heard Ossipee got 17 inches of snow. Should be great if the tracks are groomed tonight. Thanks for the info. Hope everyone enjoy the day. Cobalt |

What I do see, and hear, is the constant vroom vroom vroom of sleds going on and off the throttle, rather than maintaining a slower and steadier speed that doesn't create the moguls made by the tracks spewing out snow and creating these mounds. This to me is a disregard for the trails. What I do see as I drive around the area are trails that are clearly marked "stay on trail" and many tracks that clearly show a disregard for these signs. Sleds that run up on hillsides and run over small shrubs and Blueberry bushes, run through fields adjacent to landowners residences, causing them to put up barriers to keep sleds away, etc.. Not sure that this is the reason for all land owners closing property to snowmobiling, but I would guess that it is in some, or perhaps many, cases. Showing respect for land owners property would probably go a long way to keeping these trails open or having neighbor's to open their property up. I hope that land owner disputes can be resolved. I hate to see snowmobilers leaving NH to go to ME or VT. The snowmobile clubs have a daunting task keeping these owners happy and on board. In the meantime, enjoy your rides, Ultrarider. I hope you can continue to ride in NH. Sent from my GT-P5210 using Winnipesaukee Forum mobile app

Agree anyone allowing access to land is nice and it's appreciated. Not sure how to control those that wander of the trails but I do believe the sudden popularity of these mountain sleds has some to do with. That said, today's ride was great we had a dozen machines and did 85 miles. Thanks to Steve for leading the pack.

However, the powerline trail (corridor 15) has some "rough spots".

....for a great ride on Saturday. It was my first ride with the club and really enjoyed not having to look at a trail map all day! 85 miles of overall great conditions!

Yes we parked right at VK and unloaded there. There is also another lot just down the street.

I didn't see the other lot but guys from the club said it before VK if you were heading to VK from Moultonborough Neck rd. Supposedly there is a playground there and plowed lot behind that. There also is lot on RT 171 were the Castle trail crosses 171 and there were people parked there Saturday. I have also seen a couple trailers parked further up 171 past the tuftonboro transfer station where the trail crosses at the power lines. Big lot at 19 mile bay as well.

Here's a map showing where you can park off of playground drive, across from the Subway. Go up Playground Rd to RT 25. Then to DaSilva's, across Moultonborough Neck Rd, through the woods to Corridor 25, back across M'neck Rd and onto primary trail 201. From there, just a few miles to the VK. Don't take the shortcut across the playground.
