How often should you do a tune up of your engine (boat). In the past with my old boat (1988) I would do every other year (40 hours per year). I now have a 2008 and was wondering what is the rule of thumb for hours, years, etc. I change all fluids, filters and outdrive fluid every year but was wondering about the tune up

Today's engine can go 300 hours between tune ups. If you use the more expensive iridium spark plugs.

Just did our boat after three years. Almost close to 225 hours.
Didn't seem like it needed it, was running great, but I prefer to not have problems mid-summer. |

I do plugs every other year. Probably not necessary but I have an outboard and it's pretty easy to do.
