Thanks, looks like fun (even though I am one of those older guys with a Harley). My wife says that she would love to try one.
We did the Segway ride at Gunstock and enjoyed that. Just one less wheel here but a similar balance system. Just no sudden stops but that is true with the Segway as well. |

Ryno motors one wheel cycles have a stabilization system that adjusts your body's weight distribution 100 times per minute. They are much more stable than they look.
My best friend just returned from Portland Oregon where she and her husband test drove these units and were so impressed with the product they have become investors in the company. She has never ridden a motorcycle and had no trouble manuevering at all. The company has now finished their first round of financing and will begin production in 2013. Dealerships should be popping up next year, they already have orders for police departments, feature films, security companies etc. Should be interesting to watch product develop. |

I know a little bit about the industry and I'm not sure about this one. There's always room in the market for "trendy" products. We saw that with Segway and most recently with the rebirth of the scooter industry. Should be fun to follow. Certainly an interesting investment or dealership opportunity for an entrepreneur with a little time and capital.

I guess I'm just an old coot...Totally Missing The Point. WHAT IS the point for having one of these..?? It's not Fast...Maybe a little faster than walking...not so much jogging..BUT I thought walking was Good Physical Exercise.
![]() IF.... it's just a new TOY that will draw attention to YOURSELF..Then...I guess it works..... ![]() EDIT: I applaud the inventor for his engineering curiosity to TRY this. ![]() Last edited by NoBozo; 12-27-2012 at 06:58 PM. |

I wonder if the builder of the RYNO contacted Bombardier about the one they were supposed to produce?

It is rated at 12.5 mph in the city and 25 mph overall; that is clearly much faster than walking (or running for that matter). Jetskier ![]() |

![]() • Medicare covers some very expensive "rides". ![]() • With just one wheel on the ground, you'd be the very first to know of an EMP "radioflash" • At its top speed—25-MPH—a "sudden stop" would be "breath-taking"—especially on ice. ![]() • Bombardier, as a Canadian manufacturer, could have tax issues with its own country. (Canada being a major fossil-fuel exporter). ![]() |

It's neat, but it will suffer all the same issues as Segway.
No protection from the elements. Problems on slippery surfaces. Limited top speed Limited overall range No cargo capacity And the most significant one: regulatory issues. Although the guy in the video states in essence in can go anywhere a pedestrian can, this isn't true in real life. It won't meet most of the criteria for operating on roads with automobiles, but because it's powered it will also be banned from many pedestrian walkway areas. A neat toy for sure, but it's more of off-road use vehicle than anything. It also has a lot of competition in its price point in terms of "toys" like ATVs, and alternate commuter vehicles like scooters.

Pretty much a novelty piece imo.I have 2 Segways and use them for work but I don't really see an application for this over a Segway. It doesn't appear to be able to balance standing still.
