Default Buzzell Cove

We are interested in renting a house in Buzzell Cove during the summer, but we have concerns about algae levels along the bottom of shallow water areas. For swimming and wading out to cast, we obviously prefer to have a sandy areas along the shoreline. Does anyone have pictures of this area or knowledge of algae problems?

Thanks - and happy new year!

There were some reports of milfoil in Buzzell's cove last summer. We took a kayak around the edge looking for it and did not find any. The water seems pretty good, although there were some natural grasses in some spots late in the year. No algae that I recall.

It's infested with milfoil because it's a rafting restricted area so nobody is allowed to anchor there and clean it up. As I read the rafting restrictions there are no exceptions for this activity

Just being sarcastic as Buzzell Cove is a rafting restricted area and as I read the "letter of the law", if a boat were to anchor within 150 ft of shore to do milfoil abatement that would actually be in violation and the captain could be issued a summons.

They spread it around if you are not careful.

Default Really?

And anchoring one boat is not rafting. How about we stick to the topic instead of polluting this thread? The speed limit posts "below the fold" are available for your diatribes. Please, go pee in that pool.

Default Loved it!

We rented there at the end of July in 2007. Had no problems with algae. Where we stayed, there were a lot of leaves on a sandy bottom, and some grass, but we all went in with water shoes and had no issues. Here's a pic I took of some loons that lived in the cove and you can see a bit of the grass.

Wanna bet?

In a NRZ you can not legally anchor a SINGLE boat within 150 ft of the shore. Buzzell Cove is a NRZ. And, the rafting rules do not give an exception for milfoil abatement activities.
