Meredith to Bear Island
Hello!
Relative newcomer, as some of you may know. Can anyone tell me how long it would take to get from Meredith to Bear on a pontoon boat? If you could give me the time for departures from both the Meredith Town Docks and Cattle Landing, that would be great! Thank you! |

It depends upon where in Meredith you start and where on Bear Island you need to go. That will make a big difference.
You could figure anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes depending on those start and end points. Departure time? That is up to you if you are the Captain on the pontoon boat. |

We are trying to figure out the best place to depart from in Meredith. We are leaning towards Town Docks. We're going to St. John's, so we'd be using those docks that lead to the trail up to the chapel (sorry; don't know if they have an official name).

Cattle Landing...
I'm confusing "departure" with launching. If you're looking for a place to launch your pontoon, you won't be able to do it at Cattle Landing. Closest launch would be Goodhue-Shep Browns on Lovejoy Sands Rd.
Somewhere I read that St. Johns has someone that will pick you up at Cattle Landing. How you make those arrangements, I don't know.

Is easy enough doable with a roof-topped, 12' rowboat without a motor that can be launched down the smooth grassy gradual slope, there, that's part of the town property at Cattle Landing. Get some good rowing exercise, going out and back to Sunday service. ....
When you row out to the Lord, the Lord rows with you! ........ Michael, Row the Boat Ashore, hallelujah! A 12' rowboat is usually 5' wide so it will just fit through the 5' opening in the blue wood fence. No trailer parking is allowed at the Cattle Landing town parking lot because there's no room for trailers, so any kayak or 12' rowboat launched there needs to be car roof-topped.

Meredith Town Docks to Bear Island mail dock
We have a pontoon boat with a 115hp motor and go that way all the time, cruising at roughly 18-22mph.
Accounting for the 10 minutes that it would take you to get through the Meredith Bay no-wake zone, the trip should take you an overall time of around 35 +/-5 minutes. Simply keep all the red markers on your port side and black on your starboard and you should be fine, assuming you go to the left of Eagle Island. |
