This is a great point. When we moved to a Town Meeting town in Mass years ago, I was psyched to be part of "pure democracy". Then I realized that pure democracy was only for people who did not have little kids that needed a parent at home.

Our cherished pure democracy is really not very democratic. It imposes an unfair toll on parents, those who have to work at night, and now those at risk of covid.
