We drove through Weirs on Friday afternoon, and back through Saturday at noon. I wouldn't want the job of insuring the future success of Bike Week. It didn't look healthy.
While there was traffic, we didn't hit much of any until a mile or so from the beach, and it was moving along well.
Surprised to see several vacancy signs on nearby lodging establishments.
Even on Saturday, 90% or more of the riders appeared to be 55+ and male.
99% of the bikes were Harley-type cruisers or hogs. "Crotch rockets" almost non-existent. (In our extended family, 5 of 5 under-30 riders have the latter style bikes)
Without change, the demographic evidence for the future of the event doesn't seem good.
Oh, if you do go, fashion tip: wear black.
