When I use the word "acoustics" in this context I refer to the "natural" sound of the venue, without additional "sound reinforcement" from the theater owners.

When Robert Cray Band plays I suspect that the theater will not use the speakers they use to play soundtracks from movies; rather the amplification will be from the band using only their own amps and speakers.

For a good test of a venue's acoustics have an orchestra play classical music without amplification and note the sound: any echo, muddying or distortion?

It is tough to "get it right;' not all halls sound as good as at Boston Symphony Hall.
