From my reading, I see that authorities (Fish and Game, Police Depts.) are reluctant to admit to the presence of mountain lions (pumas?) in our area, but I assume that is just to keep tourists calm.

I saw one in the early 80's in southern NH. I was about 30 feet away from it and we were both surprised. I haven't seen one since but I have no doubt now they visit.
