May be the answer KTO --- this appeared to be (as I said) 3-4" wide - perhaps 1" deep and as tall as a typical new marker and from the quick glance, appeared to be of plastic or fiberglass construction -- thus my first instinct was a new black- red top design.
Again, I went by at 45-ish .... and it caught my eye, for the details I will return next weekend.
but as you say -- if it is a new Loon Nesting -- they best go back to the orange, low profile, sandwich board style that everyone is familiar with and can read from a distance
