Them “dear” flies aren’t too dear to me!
They’re running rampant at my house too...

A little tip to keep deer flies off you when mowing or moving around your property on equipment like a rider or tractor:

Get some of those bright blue plastic drink cups (they come in red or blue)
Fix a wooden grade stake to your equipment with wire ties and staple the blue cup upside down to the top of the stake. Find some “Tanglefoot” (I bought my local hardware out before Aubuchon took over) you can probably find some on Amazon if your hardware store doesn’t carry it)
Get a paint stirrer stick and spread the Tanglefoot all over the cup’s blue surface.
Go mow or whatever you have to do and he deer flies will actually fly right to the cup and of course get stuck and die. They love to attack moving objects and the color blue so that’s what they do!
You’ll thank me when you try it!
