The camera must have captured the image right at the moment lightning struck. I do tripod-mounted time exposures of lightning with the Canon SLR and still find results like yours aren't easy to get.

The exposure time @ 6000 is 1/4 of a second. We were extremely lucky to catch the image on the webcam.
