The original post was surprise at confiscating a pen knife. I understand that simple "weapons" can be used to create havoc with a bus or airplane. Not so much a boat show. Others have their own prejudices and leapt to guns, which had nothing to do with the intended discussion. Same with gov't vs. private. It was simply the irony of the pen knife, (overkill) vs no visible security at all, and to point out that visitors should leave their knife or whatever, in the car.
