I feel your pain man, I also will no longer return. Subaru filters are an easy swap, any reputable shop should be able to handle it correctly. Not sure what you mean by special gaskets? I currently change my families oil on 3 different subarus and the only thing I notice different when I change their oil is the filters come with crush washers, which I usually change them out, there for the drain plug.
