Correct, the HD does not have auto-route, the HD Ultra does.
While it is not an auto pilot (unless you have all the big $ servos) the Ultra will calculate and map a plot for you. I do that plot every big trip, even if I know where I am going so that the First Mate (the cuter one on the boat) can follow the purple line home in the event I get hit in the head with a loon.
