Wakefield, NH has seven beautiful lakes; Lovell, Belleau, Pine River Pond, Province, Ivanhoe, Great East and Balch. Just under a half an hour to Wolfeboro. Just over the state line check out lakes in Newfield, Acton and Shapleigh (Square Pond and Mousam Lake to name the two largest.) Property taxes in Maine are much lower than NH. It's a slower pace than what you'll find on Winnipesaukee and may not be for everyone. The Bean Group currently lists 13 waterfront properties in Wakefield but all are under agreement except for 5 of them.
