And if you are trolling, you very well may be in violation too, as the operator involved in a fishing operation. First question in my mind was that given the relatively inexpensive cost of a short term license, why are we even having this discussion? Tell your friend "no license, no fishing from my boat. " I doubt you would lose a friend over this, and if you did, then you wouldn't have been losing much of a friend. Oh, and I have told my adult son "no license, no fishing". Good luck with your decision, I hope it is the "right" one.
