I think if it’s anywhere
near the bow numbers, you’ll never get hassled.
On the other hand, one time on Winnisquam years ago some female MP gave my GF a ticket for using non-block letter black numbers. Her boat had some very nice dark green/gold outline lettering that was easy to read...just being a bitch I thought.
