Cut one down in the national forest... costs 5 bucks for a permit at the ranger station in Lincoln. Permits are limited and start being issued usually thanksgiving weekend. Once gone they are gone.

I should have clarified this, there are rules for doing this and size limits. Any tree taken CANNOT be sawed down, so leave the chain saw at home.... need to take it down with an axe.

Trees must be taken only on National Forest land, and if you don't know where to go the folks there at the ranger station can help point you to areas where there are good stands of spruce trees. It's a lot of fun and lots of people do it.
