Fairpoint "High Speed" is actually more like DSL, service is provided over the phone lines, not cable. Your service speed will be based on a number of factors, including distance from the Fairpoint central office, and the condition of the wiring in your house, etc.
Be sure to read the "What affects my connection speed?"
and the "Availability" section.

If you are more than about 3 1/2 miles away from the central office, DSL will not work at all. I don't know where you are located...the central office in Laconia is located on Rt 106 on the north side of town. We are in South Down and the distance is too far for DSL.
