Maybe the new owners would benefit by a "gimmick:" offer one product at a real low price with the hope / expectation that purchasers will also buy one or more items at regular price.
Probably the best item would be soft drinks because it is so cheap to source and produce, but french fries might also work.
Bottom line is sales is a volume business, you need to get people through the door.
