Received a call once from an actual person soliciting for the local police. Knew it was a professional fund raiser because he said "I see you donated $100 last year so would you do the same this year."
I told him I hadn't donated the previous year and hung up the phone.
The police used to call themselves until someone convinced them this was better and more efficient.
