No leech field? Find that hard to believe..... but if it is a pure holding tank, that could not be installed today. Those are illegal.

Traditional systems even most enviro septic systems have a tank that does get pumped out, this captures the solids that do eventually to some degree break down if you have sufficient levels of bacteria in the tank - but the affluent (fluids) goes into the field and leech into the ground. This is by design.
