Just a note of clarification: there is a difference between signal strength/coverage and deprioritization. The latter, which is partially addressed in the article, is when a network is overtaxed and user access is limited based on priority. Though it would appear there's no service, the reality is that it's just stopped or slow to the point of unusability.

We worked through this when, after being unable to use our phones on Verizon's network pretty much the whole 4th of July week, we jumped to a less-congested network. Since then, we've had only a few days here and there with momentary reductions in speed. Labor Day weekend there were no issues.
